The city government Seula asks the topic, AliExpress to stop selling children’s products that cross the limits of dangerous goods

The city government of Seoul requested the online giants theme and AliExpress to suspend the sale of certain children’s products due to the safety concern, saying some goods are far from local boundaries for dangerous substances.

Chinese e-commerce Titans like Shein, theme and AliExpress saw a global popularity in recent years, drawing in consumers with a wide range of trendy, ultra-cost fashion and accessories that position them as the main rivals in the American Giant Amazon.

Their rapid increase launched growing supervision over the business practices and product safety, including in South Korea.

The city government of Seoul said that on Friday recently reviewed the topic and aliexpress-including umbrellas, rain raincoats and rain boots – and reveals that 11 failed to meet South Korea’s safety standards or contemplates hazardous substances above local boundaries.

In six parasols, plasticizers based on phthalate-a-chemicals used to make plastic more flexible – found at levels far through security security, in the statement he said in the statement.

Some of these products have exceeded domestic security up to 443.5 times for chemicals, while two items were found to contain lead at levels up to 27.7 times higher than a local acceptable level.

Based on the inspection results, the government Seoul said that “it requested that online platforms suspend the sale of products that are not compatible”.

It also noticed that “extended exposure to harmful substances can affect children’s growth” and prominent need to carefully review product information before purchasing.

The theme and AliExpress immediately responded to the AFP comment requests.

The government Seoul said that AFP sellers have no legal obligations to adhere to their request.

FTALATA-based plasticizers may cause endocrine disorders, while exposure of lead above security boundaries can impair reproductive functions and increase the risk of cancer, the authorities in Seoul have said.

Last year, the city government said that women’s supplements sold Shein, AliExpress and contained toxic substances sometimes hundreds of times above eligible levels.

Last year, the European Union added to her list of digital firms that are large enough to be subject to strict security rules – including measures to protect clients than insecure products, especially those that could be harmful to minors.
