Swiss icy collapse bury most of the villages Blatten

The Swiss village Blatten was partially destroyed after a huge piece of icebergs crashed into the valley.

Although the village was evacuated a few days for fear, Birch decomposed, one person was reported and many homes were completely flattened.

Local authorities describe the situation as “very bad” and asked for support for the release of the Swiss Army. The members of the Swiss government are on the way to the scene.

300 villages had to leave their homes 19. May after geologists monitored the area warned that glacier appeared unstable. Now many of them may not be able to return.

The catastrophe that has blatten is the worst nightmare for communities across the Alps.

Climate change causes glaciers – frozen rivers of ice – to melt faster and faster, and permafrost, is often described as a glue that holds high mountains together, it also belittles.

Drone shots showed a large part of the birch iceberg on Wednesday around 15:30 (14:30 BST) on Wednesday. Lavina blatten blatten sounded like a deafening roar, while overwhelmed in the valley, leaving a huge cloud of dust.

Glaciologists monitor thawing for years, they warned that some alpine cities and villages were at risk, and Blatten was not the first to be evacuated.

In the eastern Swiss residents of the village Brienz were evacuated two years ago, because the mountain decayed above them.

They have only been allowed to return to short periods.

In 2017, eight mountaineers were killed, and many homes were destroyed, when the largest landslide in the higher-century came near the village of Bondo.

The newest report on the state of Switzerland suggested that everyone could disappear within a century, if global temperatures cannot be retained in a rise of 1.5 C above pre-industrial levels, agreed ten years ago under the Paris Climate Agreement.

Many climate scientists suggest that the goal is already missed, which means that Glacier Thav will continue to speed up, increasing the risk of flood and landslides and threatens more communities like Blatten.
