The American Airlines flight returned to Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas, Nevada was soon after takeoff after the smoke was reported from the left engine.
The airline said that the maintenance team did not find any evidence of the engine fire, but the aircraft was taken out of the service.
The injury was not reported, and the Federal Aeronautics Administration currently investigates the incident.
