The journalist won his case against the National Broadcaster, and the Court ruled that it was unfairly fired due to the social media post on the war in Gaza.
Antoinette Lattouf said that the Australian broadcasting corporation (ABC) fired without a “appropriate basis” or “process” when its five-day contract presented a presenter who stopped being beautiful in December 2023. years.
Hours before it was fired, Lattouf divided Post with Human Rights Watch (HRV) who was critical of Israel, a move that ABC said she has violated his editorial policy.
Lattouf sued for the wrong dismissal, claiming that it was fired because of its political attitudes, races and after lobbying from pro-Israel groups.
Her dismissal launched a wave of public resentment and created turkeys on public broadcasters – the collection of issues due to his independence and revive concerns over the way staff supports, especially those who are culturally diverse.
ABC challenged that he was fired, because she paid her a contract in full.
On Wednesday, justice Darryl Randija ruled that ABC was searching MS Lattouf, for reasons, including her opinions about the Israeli campaign in Gaza. He rejected the allegations that he was fired for his race.
He has won MS Lattouf damage from $ 70,000 (33,400, 45,400 USD), but he said to hear arguments on both sides on further penalties.
Lattouf – who is from Lebanese heritage – was a regular contribution to Australian media for years, but also gave a name for himself as an activist on issues such as racism, discrimination in the media and mental health.
Before she started her weekly fatigue as a presenter for ABC’s Radio program in Sydney, RTV serviced Lattouf to limit his use of social media and she agreed.
But she claimed that her manager said that she could share the information from the “respectable” source, again the HRV’s Instagram’s post-accused starvation as a tool in the war in Gaza – something about the ABC reported. Israel denies the accusation.
Shortly after the next day he said Lattouf to pack his belongings and leave, the decision that she immediately leaked the media from the air waves. That left her reputation in the taters, says Lattuf.
Last year, she took her case in the Australia’s fair working work, after failing, she failed, ruled that it was fired, they race their shares in the Federal Court.
There, Lattouf’s team claimed that ABC was influenced by external pressure on her appointment as a temporary radio presentation, even before a short contract began.
Elizabeth Green, Lattouf’s manager, said the court that he was already pressure from “higher up” to the Lattouf bag before HRV post was divided.
The Court heard that the former ABC chairman forwarded several emails complaining about Lattouf higher managers.
The BBC also saw dozens of whatsapp messages from two groups showing a compliant campaign to write letters against Lattuf in days before it was fired.
ABC’s Adrist, Ian Neil SC, claimed that Lattouf was not fired and it was simply said that he would not have to work for the last two days of his contract, saying “we are talking about two shifts, two programs”.
Neil also claimed that the cutting short contract was not about sanctioning Lattouf, but to protect the reputation of broadcasters.
“Distracting someone out of air is designed to protect ABC, not to punish an employee,” Neil said in the final words.
